Cricket | India tour of Australia

  • India need 324 runs to win the test and the Border–Gavaskar Trophy
  • Will it happen? I have my doubts. Two reasons - Rain and Pitch. While the pitch is not supporting us, but rains can help save the test
  • Anyways, a quick summary of the Test- Australia won the toss and scored 369 in their first innings, India replied back with 336 runs (thereby trailing by 33 runs in the first inning)
  • Australia scored 294 in the second inning giving a target of 328 runs to India
  • By the end of Day 4, India was at 4 runs without losing any wicket
  • In the second inning, Australian batsman Steve Smith scored 55, and the rest of the players were although in double-digit but couldn't score a half-century
  • From India, Mohammed Siraj took 5 wickets

Cricket | England Tour of Sri Lanka

  • England easily won the first test against Sri Lanka by 7 wickets (actually they deserved to win by 10 wickets!)
  • A quick summary of the Test - Sri Lanka won the toss and put up a low total of 135 runs in the first innings; England replied back with 421 runs (taking a lead of 286 runs)
  • Sri Lanka then scored 359 runs in the second innings giving a target of 74 runs to England
  • By the end of session 1 on Day 5, England finished the test and took a lead of 1-0 in this Two-tests series
  • Joe Root played a captain's knock and was declared the match of the match. He scored 228 in the first innings and also took 1 wicket
  • Sri Lanka vs England Second Test will start on 22 January 2021
  • Both the teams will also play One-Day International matches in June 2021

  • Ireland thrashed UAE today by 112 runs in the fourth On-Day International at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE)

  • Yonex Thailand Open 2021 got over on 17 January 2021 and unfortunately Indian didn't win any medal
  • Men single category - 27-year old Viktor Axelsen (Denmark) defeated 26-year old NG Ka Long Angus (Hong Kong) to win the championship
  • Women single category - 27-year old Carolina MARIN (Spain) defeated 26-year old TAI Tzu Ying (Taiwan) to win the championship
  • Indian crown girls P.V.Sindhu earlier lost to Mia Blichfeldt (Denmark) in the first round itself and Sania Nehwal lost to Busanan Ongbamrungphan (Thailand) in the second round
  • Kidambi Srikanth got injured and had to leave the match in between (sad!)
