Cricket | England Tour of Sri Lanka

  • England is playing two-tests series with SriLanka starting today at the Galle International Stadium
  • Summary of Day 1 of the first test - Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bat first
  • The decision didn't go as expected and Sri Lanka got out at 135 (yes…135 all-out)
  • England also lost two wickets and were at 127 at the loss of two wickets, by the end of Day 1
  • 23-Year old Dom Bess (England's off-spinner) was the best bowler of the day as he took 5 wickets, followed by Stuart Broad (England's fast bowler) who took 3 wickets
  • The highest score from Sri Lankan was 28, that too by their captain Dinesh Chandimal
  • On the crease are England Captain Joe root (66 runs) and Jonny Bairstow (47 runs) as both England openers got out early (Lasith Embuldeniya took both the opener's wicket)
  • Overall a weak performance by Sri Lanka and it is highly doubtful if they would be able to make a comeback in this Test

  • So, all excited to see the Indian team thrashing Australia in the fourth and the final test and clinch the Border–Gavaskar Trophy?
  • Well it's not gonna be easy as half of the Indian cricket team is injured and the pitch is going to be bouncy at Brisbane
  • Even the playing XI has not been announced by the management as yet, I am sure they must be hoping if Jasprit Bumrah can make it

  • 26-year old Mohammed Azharuddeen smashed unbeaten 137 runs which helped Kerala to beat Mumbai by eight wickets
  • For this wonderful knock, Kerala Cricket Association will award Azharuddeen with INR 1.37 lacs (അഭിനന്ദനങ്ങൾ)
  • Any why not, this is the second-fastest century in the T20 format. Azharuddeen scored the century in 37 balls while Rishabh Pant holds the record of scoring 100 in 32 balls
  • Until now Top run-scorer is Prabhsimran Singh from Punjab (195 runs in 3 matches) and Highest Wicket Taker is Ishan Porel from Bengal (11 wickets in 3 matches)


Cricket | Big Bash League (BBL) season 10

  • Brisbane Heat (150/5) beat Melbourne Renegades (149/6) by 5 wickets (8 balls remaining)
  • 31-year old Joe Burns of Brisbane Heat was the Man of the match as he scored 31 runs in 15 balls (not-out)
  • Chris Lynn of Brisbane Heat also helped in the victory as he smashed 50 runs in 40 balls
  • Sydney Sixers leads the BBL season 10 table with 29 points (7 wins in 10 matches) followed by Sydney Thunders with 23 points (6 wins in 10 matches). These two teams have been at the top of the table for a long time- buck up other teams!
  • Tomorrow - Friday, 15 January 2021 - Melbourne Stars will play with Adelaide Strikers in the 40th match of the BBL season 10


Cricket | West Indies tour of Bangladesh

  • West Indies is scheduled to play three One-day Internationals (ODIs), two T20s, and two Tests with Bangladesh in January and February 2021
  • Due to Covid and the below-par situation in Bangladesh, many West Indies players opted out of the tour
  • Coach Phil Simmons has motivated the non-core Team of West Indies that it is a bright chance for the youngsters to perform and shine
