  • Today the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting issued an advisory that advertisements related to online gaming and fantasy sports cannot be misleading and should contain a disclaimer that the game involves financial risk and that it may be addictive. This may be a positive step for online gaming companies where the Government has formally permitted the advertisement but with some riders. Seems like the day is not far when the online gaming companies will be allowed to set up their shops in India, and why not, since Government can make USD 2.5 Billion revenue via taxes (as per FICCI report)
